Rumors about Apple’s potential switch to solid-state buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro series have been spiraling up and down for the past several months. Based on previous reports, Apple wants to replace all the physical buttons on its iPhones with solid state ones and the iconic mute switch with a new “Action Button” like on the Apple Watch Ultra. The folks over at MacRumors discovered a total of nine functions all accessible via the Action Button inside the latest iOS 17 beta release. These include the obvious Silent Mode which will toggle all sounds off via a tap. The new button will also allow quick access to the Accessibility features, Shortcuts, Camera, Flashlight, Magnifier, Translate and Voice Memos.

The new report does not detail how the Action Button will allow users to control all the aforementioned aspects but we’ll hopefully get more details soon. It remains to be seen if Apple will bring the Action button to the iPhone 15 Pro series.
